When we arrived, someone was there to meet us and carry our bags to our room. They upgraded us to a wonderful room with a private balcony and beautiful view of the lake free of charge! Breakfast is included and was excellent. The hotel is so peaceful and quaint with the hotel restaurant cooking delicious meals. We particularly loved petting the two hotel German Shepherds. Can't wait to come back here! Highly recommend :)

The staff here at Tzampoc resort was truly great. Mr. Christian and Darwin were always ready to help however they could during our stay. We primarily stayed in our room and in the pool area, as well as the outdoor dining restaurant as we just wanted to enjoy the view and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city. We tried all the food on the menu pretty much including all the desserts and were very happy with everything. The breakfast, included with your stay, was also something to look forward to. The rooms could use a little love and maybe a softer mattress but this didn’t deter our stay.

While reading some of the reviews I was a bit skeptical about booking this hotel, but I went for it. Best decision ever. The hotel gives a stunning view of the lake, mesmerizing. Our room was lovely. We were told by the staff that the room had been renewed not long g ago. They did an amazing job. Also, my husband and I decided to have dinner at the hotels restaurant. It seemed renewed too, and I just gave an amazing view of the lake. We had such delicious plates. The bartender at the pool was great, everyone there had a smile. We had to leave early the next morning, and they made sure that we could have breakfast ready before leaving. The pool area is nice too. I do think that area could take some updating. However, seeing how they’ve been renovating rooms and the restaurant, it just feels like they are investing their money right. To get there we took a Tuk Tuk. Since I had read in other reviews that access to the hotel was difficult for its location, I made sure to point out to the driver where we were heading to. With smile he took us there. We even hired him to pick us up the next morning. Can’t wait to be back and spend a whole week here.

We stayed at Tzampoc for 4 nights. (Saturday, February 17th to Wednesday the 21st) Our room was $300 a night and definitely lacking in some areas. First and foremost, there was NO safe or mini fridge. At $300 a night for a bougee resort where they clean your room each day I thought this was bizarre. They also only had shower gel and shampoo. No conditioner or body lotion. At $300 a night, come on!! We had some issues throughout our stay which I did voice to the staff as I don’t like having to make negative reviews. When we arrived, we had just finished hiking Acatenango. Eros gave us his WhatsApp # if we needed anything. We had leftovers from lunch, so I went to the restaurant to ask for some silverware & napkins so we could finish it. They told me silverware and napkins were for dine in only (even though I did explain we were staying there and wanted to finish our leftovers). Fine. I contacted Eros and he brought some. First I showered then my fiancé did. At the end of my shower it went from hot to warm then my fiance didn’t have hot water at all. Another morning, my fiance showered and didn’t have any hot water again. Mind you I hadn’t even showered before him. We told them and they took care of this as they have solar panels that heat up the water. On the first night our TV was also static so we couldn’t really watch. We told them the next day and they fixed that as well. So hot water and tv they did take care of. I will give them that. Breakfast was great each morning. What really set me over the edge was on our last day we finally decided to soak up the infinity pool. I went down to the pool first and started ordering aperol spritzes for my fiance and I. When he arrived at the pool, he had a water bottle. The bartender told him he could not bring it into the pool area. Bizarre. I ask the bartender if we could bring the water from our room that the resort gives us. He said no. There was no water offered at the pool and we had to BUY bottled water at the pool even though we were buying cocktails AND food AND were guests at the resort. By the way, we ran up a tab that was equivalent to $100 USD. After this I voiced my complaints to management. They said the reasoning was because in the past people have put liquor in water bottles. Ok that’s fair if you don’t want people bringing it in for that reason, BUT you should have filtered water at the pool then and not make people pay for it. Other hotels that weren’t nearly as high end a this one had water out for guests to consume whenever. All in all, this place is overhyped. I will say the breakfast was great, but instead of staying here, I’d recommend buying a day pass for the pool at $25 USD and having cocktails and food there for the day. The staff was very kind, but I can tell the owner runs a tight ship. He’d be around yet barely say hello. Even after I voiced my complaint about the water they still charged me and btw, my fiance and I are in the hospitality industry and tip generously.

This resort is magnificent and the service is excellent. Obviously, the most breathtaking components are the gorgeous infinity pool and the indescribably stunning views. The room was also very comfortable, the food was delicious, and the space is quiet, secluded, and calm. I also highly recommend exploring the San Catarina Palopo village surrounding the resort (with a guide if possible, since it was confusing to navigate as a tourist). A few notes of which to be aware: 1. The pool is not heated, which made swimming pretty much impossible. I got in for my Insta worthy photos and got right back out! Similarly, it is crowded with couples wanting photo ops and sharing lots of PDA. I would recommend this resort more for couples and less for solo travelers. 2. The resort is a short tuk tuk ride to Panajachel (the central hub), which is great, but it is very high up and somewhat remote. When I arrived by shuttle at night, it took me an hour (in a torrential downpour) to find a tuk tuk driver who would agree to drive me from Pana up to the resort. It is a good place to go if you want to get away from everything, but not great if you want to plan other activities around the lake. 3. I would not recommend the massage. It was relaxing, but barely firm enough to consider it a massage (actually, my experience was that no one anywhere in Guatemala knows how to give a proper massage). 4. Also a strange theme to Guatemala: the orange juice is disgusting. All the other food and drink was great!

Place was beyond amazing. The people went above and beyond to help us in every single step throughout the whole time we were there. special thanks to Angela who literally washed our dirty cloths for free. Thanks to Eros, Mario, Christian, and Lucia who literally stayed with us in the dark outside the hotel to make sure we got into our taxi that took over 40 minutes. Amazing people. The owner let us stay pass our checkout time to enjoy the resort and while we were waiting for our flight. NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN TREATED BETTER THAN THIS AND I HAVE BEEN TO 53 COUNTRIES. Thanks for everything.
